I know
the sweet aching bite
of too much
too soon
and how it stains between my bones
and sends me falling
primitive
with my brash hopes
trapped outside my chest.
I blame your face -
how it shames your name
and the way
it turns away the world,
pulling the seams of my skin
to Calvary,
blowing my wishes
into yesterday.
Oh, there is such
a dark elegance,
refined and flawed
like damaged water
in your eyes,
and a twist of your smile -
the tragedy of light,
leaves the air vibrating
with something
that forgot to love.
the sweet aching bite
of too much
too soon
and how it stains between my bones
and sends me falling
primitive
with my brash hopes
trapped outside my chest.
I blame your face -
how it shames your name
and the way
it turns away the world,
pulling the seams of my skin
to Calvary,
blowing my wishes
into yesterday.
Oh, there is such
a dark elegance,
refined and flawed
like damaged water
in your eyes,
and a twist of your smile -
the tragedy of light,
leaves the air vibrating
with something
that forgot to love.
